FAQS
The Installation/Maintenance Electrician Endorsement with Assessment (EWA) serves as a formal evaluation process designed to acknowledge the occupational competence of individuals who have engaged in professional practice as Installation or Maintenance Electricians for a minimum of five years. This assessment specifically targets those who have not had the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship, attain an equivalent recognized Level 3 vocational qualification, or possess qualifications obtained outside of the United Kingdom.
To successfully complete the Experienced Worker Assessment process, it is essential to obtain the Experienced Worker Qualification and undertake the AM2E Assessment, which serves as a counterpart to the AM2S assessment administered to apprentices upon the conclusion of their training.
The EWA must be completed within 18 months. This means completion of the EWA qualification and submission of the gateway application to take the AM2E must be within this period. The AM2E assessment itself can be sat after this point, providing the gateway submission is made within the 18 months.
The successful completion of this Experienced Worker Assessment and its conclusive assessment of competence—the AM2E—aligns with the criteria required for an ECS gold card application. Additionally, it is acknowledged within the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification as being equivalent to an industry-recognized apprenticeship.
