Electrical Theory
Our candidates will progressively acquire the foundational knowledge essential for small‑scale Electric Vehicle Charging installations. On day two, learners complete a multiple-choice online exam covering EV charger installation and safety requirements. At this stage of the programme, the assessment consists of 60 questions, lasts one hour, and requires a 75% pass mark. The Electric Vehicle (EV) charging course therefore encompasses the complete range of knowledge and requirements an electrician needs to design, install, and commission EV charging equipment safely and in accordance with current regulations.
The course will span 2 days, featuring a 1-hour online multiple-choice exam scheduled for the afternoon of the 2nd day. This course focuses entirely on theoretical learning and is based on the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation, 5th Edition
Qualified supervisors and employed persons responsible for undertaking such work under their certification are required to be competent. Furthermore, from 1st October 2026, this obligation will extend to holding the relevant qualifications for Electric Vehicle equipment installation.
